Desktop shortcuts in Windows XP

Desktop shortcuts it’s for quick easy access to your favourite programs.

Windows XP start menu

First, navigate to the program you want the shortcut to on the start menu (in this example we are creating a shortcut for Internet Explorer), to do this click on the Start button,
All Programs and then locate the program required.

Right Click on the program and hold down the mouse button, move the mouse pointer to the desktop and then release the mouse button.

Windows classic start menu

To create a shortcut with the windows classic start menu click on the Start button, hold the mouse over programs and find the program you wish to create a shortcut to.

Right Click
and hold down the mouse button on the program, drag the mouse over to the desktop and then let go of the mouse button.
